Car Sales Decreased by 9.9% in First Half of 2018

The number of new motor vehicles sold in Newfoundland and Labrador totalled 15,624 in the first half of 2018, representing an decrease of 9.9% compared to the same period a year ago.

The value of car sales and leases was $570.8 million in the first half of 2018, down 7.0% over the same period a year ago.

Canada as a whole recorded little change (0.2%) in the number of motor vehicles sold in the first half of 2018. The value of national car sales increased by 5.5% over the same period.
